The Police Link program involves police officers regularly visiting the Women’s and Children’s Hospital and the Flinders Medical Centre to positively engage  with children who are unwell or undergoing medical treatment for serious health issues.

The visits are well received and bring a smile to children, providing an uplifting distraction from their hospital admission.  Topics discussed range from awareness of the police role, 000 emergency, cycle safety, internet and  personal safety in public places, drug and alcohol awareness and information about bullying for the older children.

In addition to monthly visits police officers also participate in Easter and Christmas events at the Women’s and Children’s hospital where a broad range of SAPOL sections attend, along with popular children’s characters.  Both events are a highlight for children particularly those who have lengthy hospital stays.

Where possible there are 4 visits a year to the hospitals, including;

Easter, June, September (Royal Show) and December (Christmas time).

Police Link is proudly supported by Police Credit Union.
